The Ian Fays

“If you planned this, you did it perfectly!”, Lizz Fay says to us when she sees the pink and yellow walls in the hallways of the main building of the University of Vienna. „These are our favourite colours!” When we meet in early January the three sisters just arrive from a radio interview at FM4, where they must have told them that we choose the locations for our sessions specific to each band. Well, let’s say, we try to, but our research usually does not go as deep to fit the wall colours to the band’s preferences. Luckily enough the setting in the university – surrounded by statues of wise old men – is perfect for the San Francisco-based band and they treat us with wonderful acoustic versions of “Country” from their new album “Jensen’s Camera” and the great unreleased song “Red Waves” (“This one’s a little bit experimental”, Sara smilingly introduces it. Experiment successful, we’d say!).
