It was about time for us to do a series of exclusively Austrian bands, so the invitation to film sessions with all the headlining acts of Vienna’s first Popfest came more than handy. Since about 2005 the city’s pop music scene is thriving again, with lots of new bands, labels and events that keep inspiring each other. Yet there is not one „scene“, instead the approaches towards making music are refreshingly diverse. The Burgenland-based Garish immerse in poetic images and create haunting songs between chamber pop and indie rock. They performed “Wenn dir das meine Liebe nicht beweist”, the title track of their 2010-album at the impressive Künstlerhaus cinema.
