Cursive

Oh, how we miss Spanish streetlife! Certainly the crowds of people on an average weeknight make an impression on Tim Kasher as well as we walk along charming narrow streets in the Malasaña neighbourhood, towards Plaza del Dos de Mayo. The singer and mastermind of Cursive (and his other band The Good Life) from Omaha, Nebraska sets up amidst dogs, kids and street vendors, turns up the volume of his little amp and heads into a powerful version of “This House Alive”, the opener of Cursive’s 2012-album “I Am Gemini”. It is no setting for shy performers, but Tim is known for a great stage presence and screams on top of his lungs, attracting the attention of all kinds of people on the busy square. The second song “The Cat And Mouse” starts off more quietly but ends in a furious crescendo, with Tim’s vocals and guitar playing resounding from the surroundings buildings. He receives a nice round of applause and some curious questions before he heads back to the venue, already warmed up for Cursive’s show.
